The short answer: yes — you can buy property in Dubai from the USA entirely online, without ever boarding a plane. There are two remote paths. Off-plan is the simplest: reserve online through the developer, sign the Sale and Purchase Agreement digitally, and wire your funds into a government-regulated escrow account — no travel required. For a ready (completed) property, you grant a Power of Attorney (POA) to a trusted representative in Dubai who completes the registration on your behalf. And because the UAE dirham is pegged to the US dollar, there is no currency risk on either route.
Can you really buy from America without visiting Dubai?
Yes. Foreign nationals — Americans included — can own freehold property in Dubai’s designated investment zones with full title, no residency required, and the whole transaction can be handled remotely. Thousands of US-based investors buy in Dubai each year without setting foot on site. The two mechanisms that make it possible are the developer’s online booking systems for off-plan, and the Power of Attorney for ready property.
How to buy Dubai property from the USA online — step by step
- Choose the property and do due diligence. Work with a RERA-licensed brokerage, review floor plans and virtual tours, and verify the project and developer through the Dubai Land Department (DLD) and the Dubai REST app, the DLD’s official digital platform.
- Reserve online. For off-plan, the developer issues a reservation form and you pay a booking fee (often around 10%) by international wire. For a ready home, your representative files an offer and a Form F (Memorandum of Understanding) with a ~10% deposit.
- Sign the SPA. Off-plan Sale and Purchase Agreements are routinely signed digitally from abroad. Your money is protected in a RERA-regulated escrow account and released to the developer only as construction milestones are certified.
- Pay from the US. Funds are wired internationally; DLD rules require payment to flow to the registered owner’s account, so many buyers open a non-resident UAE bank account (Emirates NBD, Mashreq and ADCB all offer them) — though for off-plan you can typically pay the developer’s escrow directly.
- Register the title. For off-plan, the DLD issues an Oqood (off-plan registration) once about 20% is paid; the title deed follows on completion. For ready property, your POA holder attends a DLD trustee office to complete the 4% transfer and collect the title deed — no need for you to be there.
For a ready property with no mortgage, the full process typically runs four to eight weeks. Off-plan can be reserved online in a matter of days.
The Power of Attorney — the key to buying fully remotely
A POA authorises someone in Dubai to sign and register on your behalf. To be valid in the UAE, a POA drawn up in America must be notarised locally, attested for international use, then legalised by the UAE embassy/consulate and the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with an Arabic translation. It usually takes 15–30 business days to prepare and can remain valid for up to five years. This single document is what lets an American complete a Dubai purchase without traveling.
How to stay safe buying from abroad
Buying remotely is safe when you use the official rails: deal only through a RERA-licensed brokerage, confirm the project and developer on the DLD’s Dubai REST app, and make sure your payments go into a DLD/RERA escrow account — never to a personal account. These three checks are what separate a legitimate cross-border purchase from a risky one, and they can all be verified online from the US before you send a dollar.
Golden Visa — without leaving home
A Dubai property investment of AED 2 million (about USD 545,000) or more qualifies you for a 10-year renewable Golden Visa, which can be arranged as part of a remote purchase — residency in one of the world’s fastest-growing cities, secured online.
The Cresco read
Honest guidance from the desk: for a first remote purchase, off-plan is the cleanest route — you buy directly from the developer into regulated escrow, on a payment plan, with no title transfer to coordinate until completion. It removes most of the moving parts of a remote deal. Whichever route you take, the rule is the same: a RERA-licensed representative and escrow-protected payments. That is exactly the standard we hold, and where our team on the ground earns its keep for buyers 8,000 miles away.
