Sanzen projects in the UAE
Sanzen is the United Arab Emirates development arm of Gulf Investment House, a Kuwaiti investment group founded in 1998.
Gulf Investment House is a public company. It is listed on both the Kuwait and the Abu Dhabi stock exchanges, it is audited every year, and it is governed under Islamic finance principles. It invests for the long term alongside pension funds and banks.
The group reports more than twenty five years of operation, more than fifteen projects, seven companies and a presence in five Gulf markets. Kuwait, where it began in 1998. Saudi Arabia, with nine projects covering towers and malls. Bahrain, where it holds a second listed investment house. Oman, with eight buildings built alongside pension funds. And the United Arab Emirates, where it holds property and media interests and now builds directly through Sanzen.
The group chairman is Abdulaziz A. Al Sanad. He studied Islamic law in Kuwait before he studied finance, and learned the money side at the treasury desk of Kuwait Finance House. He chairs Gulf Investment House and sits on boards in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Bahrain. The chief strategy officer is Khalid Hamid.
Sanzen builds through two arms. Sanad Investment builds Sukoon in Sharjah. Zennova Realty builds Zen Lagoons in Dubai.
Why this matters if you are buying. Most new developer names in the Emirates arrive with no parent company and no audited accounts behind them. Sanzen arrives with a parent that has been listed on two stock exchanges since 1998. That is not a guarantee of delivery and nobody should read it as one. It is a materially different starting position from a first time developer, and the parent company is the first thing worth checking before you buy from any name you have not seen before.
